General Role Description
Provide technical leadership for the deployment of drives and motors technologies applied to industrial systems markets with time horizons up to 2 years.
Role Accountabilities
- Assess and define optimum technical system solution to meet requirements for new applications
- Develop and integrate appropriate drives and motors performance criteria that meet clients’ system performance requirements
- Recommend new products or processes required for industrial systems applications
- Provide guidance to engineers on power systems design
- Travel to client sites to insure validation of development activity meet performance levels during site deployment
- Research and assess the Company’s drives and motors performance, and competitive position, and recommend product enhancements and new product technologies to senior management
- Monitor competitive information on performance related issues of competitors and legacy installed base
- Prepare documentation for clients which articulates the benefits of the Company’s solution and propose competitive options applicable to the clients’ individual needs
- Prepare and communicate specifications to ensure sub-suppliers have necessary information to provide accurate cost estimates
- Create and lead the internal review of drives and motors performance to solicit feedback from peers, system engineering, application engineering and consultants
- Monitor and investigate international and country specific codes and standards to ensure compliance
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and productive communication with parent company to promote consistent application engineering practices and improved response times
- Present electrical control systems technology to management, employees, clients and others at technical meetings, conferences and via technical articles or professional society publications
- Provide technical expertise to the industrial systems ITO, OTR, and commissioning teams for achieving and documenting process performance
- Review brownfield opportunities and coach engineers on drives and motors modifications required to meet client requirements
- Provide technical consulting, coaching, and training to company and subsidiary engineering team members to transfer knowledge of Company process and product solutions and ensure successful project execution, as directed by management
- Provide technical expertise in the integration of drive and motor parameters for the proprietary specification tool
- Create and implement the method for tracking and assessing competitors’ drives and motors performance and quality levels
- Develop, apply, utilize and document AC and DC Drive engineering standards
- Define and implement productivity, quality and process improvement programs for drive system engineering
- Define and develop new tools and enhancements to existing tools that improve engineering productivity and hardware system design
- Define and document industrial systems process requirements

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering or equivalent via education and/or work experience
- 10 years’ experience in the application of drives and motors in the industrial systems market
- Demonstrated presentation skills
- Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
- Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Access, software programming language, and simulation tools
- Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, approximately 50%, sometimes with limited notice
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of science degree in electrical engineering
- 10 years’ experience in the commissioning or operation of industrial systems process automation systems
- 5 years’ experience in process automation analysis/modeling
- Knowledge and experience with Company’s metals models, level 2, power electronic product and motor families
