What are we looking for?
Intertek Alchemy is actively seeking a Chief Scrum Master with 5-8 years of experience to join us. In this role, you will facilitate the success of multiple scrum teams by leveraging Agile techniques to enable predictable delivery of high quality and valuable software. You will act as a servant leader and guide, fostering an environment of high performance, continuous flow, and relentless improvement. You are equal parts leader, coach, mentor, and team advocate. You will lead projects and multiple teams for the business.
We are open to remote candidates, but preference will be given to candidates in Austin, TX.
About You:
- You have acted as a full-time Scrum Master for a few years. You can leverage real-world experience, and you are eager to learn and grow. Preference will be given to candidates who have led an agile transformation using the Scaled Agile framework.
- You are passionate about Agile principles and values, and you understand that they need to be integrated into the reality of a fiscally oriented corporation
- You believe you and your team can succeed. You enjoy the challenges of coaching and inspiring teams to ever higher levels of Agile maturity

Responsibilities and Duties
- Guide Best Practice. Teach and advocate the Scrum framework, process, and rules and help the team follow Agile best practices as established by the team and the organization.
- Facilitate the team's progress toward team goals. Continuously seek improvement in areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity. Help the team focus on goals, through the following:
- Pursue commitment. Ensure that the product owner and team scrum master have a shared, agreed upon understanding of the commitment.
- Promote visibility. Maintain transparency into the team's work for all stakeholders at an appropriate level of detail. Ensure scrum masters radiate information, proving input on KPIs.
- Remove impediments. Support the assigned scrum master in eliminating impediments blocking commitments.
- Track capacity and optimize flow. Work with the scrum master to establish the available velocity for each sprint.
- Facilitate process. Facilitate SAFe program level ceremonies, e.g., Scrum of Scrums, Program Increment Planning, Scrum Master Community of practice, and Business Owners.
- Support the Product Owner. Guide the team in sizing and establishing estimates. Foster a healthy team dynamic regarding scope and priorities.
- Drive accountability and lead team efforts in relentless improvement. Help the team take responsibility for their actions by enabling a culture of trust and continuous improvement. Lead process improvement discussions, ensure that process fundamentals are followed, and adjust processes to implement efficiencies without jeopardizing quality.
- Enable a high-performing team. Apply coaching and development techniques to drive continuous improvement in team performance and satisfaction. Help the team exploit strengths and work through challenges, only escalating to management when the team cannot resolve on its own.
- Coordinate with other teams. Support the team's efforts to continuously improve communications and relationships with other teams. Encourage an attitude of mutual respect between the team and stakeholders. Help coordinate cross-team efforts using a scaled Agile approach.
- Champion Agility. Help the team embrace and adopt Agile values, principles, and practices. Contribute to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the team. Maintain awareness of industry trends and new technology, and explore those that would benefit our teams.
- Provide Training. Conduct Scrum Master, Product Owner, and other agile team training as needed.
- Release Management. Help define schedule and milestones with management and track with team.
Education & Experience
• Scrum Master certification
• Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
• 5-8 years in a Scrum Master role on a software development team
• Experience with the software product development process
• Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• Working with stakeholders to accurately report progress, impediments, successes, and failures
Preferred
• Knowledge of software development tools, languages, and standards
• Experience working with backlog tools
• Experience coaching a team in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted
• Advanced Scrum certification (e.g., Certified Scrum Professional or Certified Enterprise Coach)
• Experience with coaching and mentoring of other scrum masters and agile leaders
