Continuing along its highly successful growth trajectory, SFFedCU is seeking a Chief People Officer at our San Francisco headquarters.
Position Summary
The Chief People Officer (CPO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for driving the strategic direction and oversight of the Credit Union's human resources function. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CPO will lead all aspects of people strategy including talent acquisition, employee engagement, organizational development, DEI initiatives, compensation and benefits, compliance and culture. This role will be instrumental in supporting the Credit Union’s mission ensuring alignment between people initiatives and the overall business goals while fostering a positive, high-performance, inclusive organizational culture.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy aligned with the Credit Union's business goals, culture and values.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team on all matters related to human resources and organizational development.
- Foster a diverse, inclusive, and innovative workplace by championing initiatives that promote equity, inclusion and employee well-being.
Talent Management:
- Oversee recruitment, retention and succession planning efforts to attract and retain top talent at all levels of the organization.
- Develop strategies for employee development, performance management and succession planning ensuring the alignment of individual goals with the Credit Union’s objectives.
- Promote a high-performance culture through the design and implementation of programs that drive employee engagement, productivity and satisfaction.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Oversee the development and management of competitive compensation, benefits and incentive programs.
- Ensure compensation structures are equitable and aligned with market trends and the Credit Union's financial health.
- Design and implement employee recognition programs that acknowledge individual and team accomplishments.
Culture and Employee Engagement:
- Lead the development and implementation of a values-driven culture that supports the Credit Union’s mission, vision and goals.
- Continuously assess and improve employee engagement strategies using data and feedback to enhance organizational climate and retention.
- Serve as a champion for employee health and wellness initiatives including mental health support, work-life balance and flexible work arrangements.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
- Oversee the development of policies and procedures related to HR functions and ensure they are communicated and adhered to across the organization.
- Lead efforts to maintain a safe and compliant work environment addressing potential risks related to employment practices and workplace behavior.
HR Technology and Systems:
- Leverage HR technologies to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency including performance management, talent acquisition and employee data management.
- Oversee HR analytics using data to drive decision-making and informed organizational development strategies.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the annual HR budget ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet strategic priorities.
- Optimize the HR team structure and resources, including training and development, to enhance team performance and service delivery.
Who Are You?
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources with at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role ideally in a credit union or financial institution.
- Strong understanding of credit union operations, organizational development and financial services regulations.
- Proven ability to lead change management efforts, implement strategic initiatives and drive organizational transformation.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
