The Chief People Officer (CPO) is the senior-most HR executive reporting directly to the CEO. As a strategic partner to the leadership team, the CPO is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive people strategy that drives high performance, delivers predictable, measurable results, and aligns with the company’s business objectives. This role will lead a world-class human resources function that supports rapid growth across geographically distributed markets, focusing on creating a dynamic culture that emphasizes accountability, engagement, and measurable outcomes.
Responsibilities
Strategic People Leadership:
● Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership, translating business strategy into a comprehensive people strategy that drives growth and aligns with business goals.
● Partner with the leadership team to create a high-performance culture by setting clear objectives, driving accountability, and ensuring measurable outcomes across the organization.
● Lead strategic initiatives across all HR functions, including People Operations, HR Business Partners, Total Rewards, and Talent Acquisition, ensuring alignment with business priorities and achieving results that support sustained, predictable performance.
Driving High-Performance Culture:
● Architect a culture of performance by implementing metrics-driven talent and performance management systems that align individual and team activities with Somatus’ goals and core values.
● Develop strategies to attract, engage, and retain top talent, using innovative approaches in recruitment, onboarding, and employee development to meet evolving business needs.
● Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion by implementing initiatives that foster a diverse, engaged, and high-performing workforce.
● Lead change management initiatives that support Somatus’ rapid growth, ensuring that organizational changes are implemented smoothly and align with strategic objectives.
● Partner with leadership to develop comprehensive succession planning and leadership development programs that ensure a strong internal talent pipeline and readiness for future growth.
● Drive organizational development initiatives, including employee engagement, performance management, and leadership development, to support continuous growth and evolution.
People Operations & Analytics:
● Oversee People Operations to ensure HR processes, systems, and reporting are optimized for efficiency, compliance, and user experience.
● Collaborate with the People Operations team to deliver detailed, data-driven insights on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as employee engagement, turnover rates, and total rewards metrics, providing actionable intelligence to leadership to drive informed decision-making.
● Ensure HRIS platforms and reporting capabilities provide real-time, meaningful analytics that contribute to advancing the organization’s talent strategy and achieving business outcomes.
Total Rewards:
● Develop and implement a competitive Total Rewards Strategy and accompanying philosophy that aligns with Somatus’ business objectives, including market-based compensation, equity management, and incentive programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent.
● Oversee executive compensation and incentive programs, ensuring they are designed to drive results and are aligned with the company’s high-performance culture and strategic priorities.
Talent Acquisition & Development:
● Lead a best-in-class Talent Acquisition function that proactively identifies talent needs and implements dynamic recruiting strategies to support business growth and scalability.
● Build a strong employer brand in partnership with the marketing team, positioning the organization as an employer of choice to attract top talent across the healthcare sector.
● Drive a high-volume recruitment engine focused on healthcare professionals, ensuring a consistent pipeline of qualified candidates with an emphasis on quality, speed, and predictability.
HR Business Partners:
● Lead a team of HR Business Partners (HRBPs) who are integrated with the business and aligned with organizational goals, providing strategic support to leaders across teams to enhance business performance and optimize talent.
● Partner with HRBPs to drive human capital planning, employee relations, and organizational design that aligns with strategic business needs and delivers measurable impact.
Continuous Improvement:
● Implement HR infrastructure, compensation systems, and strategic initiatives that continuously improve the HR function and enable scalability.
● Develop a culture of data-driven decision-making within HR, using contemporary human capital analytics to drive efficiencies, enhance employee experience, and improve outcomes.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
● At least 15 years of HR leadership experience, with proven success in various HR disciplines, including talent management, total rewards, and employee engagement. Previous SVP-level experience within healthcare services or a similar high-growth, decentralized organization is strongly preferred.
● Demonstrated track record of implementing strategic HR initiatives that drive measurable business results in fast-paced, rapidly growing environments.
● Proven experience in a high-growth organization, with a track record of scaling teams beyond 1,500 team members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Strategic HR leader with the ability to advise and collaborate with senior leaders to achieve business objectives through effective HR strategies, operations, and tactics.
● Expertise in designing and implementing comprehensive HR strategies, including talent acquisition, total rewards, performance management, organizational design, and culture transformation.
● Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights that inform strategic decisions and optimize human capital outcomes.
● Experience developing and leading high-performing HR teams, fostering productive environments, and continuously improving the HR function to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
● Proven ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and drive cultural change across diverse, geographically distributed teams.
