Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Your Job Duties:
In this role, you will execute a strategic vision for organizational growth by developing and growing future leaders, driving operational efficiencies, and scaling teams in a high-growth environment.
Leadership Development
- Oversee a growing team of over 300. This includes management of senior leadership, program managers, and staff.
- Evaluate and implement initiatives to identify, mentor and grow high-potential middle managers, building a robust leadership pipeline.
- Serve as a role model and advocate for emerging leaders, providing personalized support, coaching, and resources.
- Establish and monitor KPI’s to track and measure success in leadership programs.
- Drive succession planning and leadership pipeline initiative to ensure the long-term strength and stability of the company.
Operational Strategy and Alignment
- Monitor established KPIs to identify internal risks associated with rapid growth, including operational bottlenecks, cultural shifts, and financial challenges.
- Lead the implementation of operational standards to drive efficiency, consistency, and scalability across all contracts and programs.
- Assist in the ongoing implementation and improvement of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS)
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for high-value government customers and partners, overseeing all operations and being the figurehead when needed.
- Provide operational input during proposal development as the subject matter expert.
Chief Operating Officer (COO) - Required Skills, Experience & Personality Fit
You have:
- Extensive experience in defense contracting, operations management, and organizational leadership.
- Successfully scaled and led an operations department transitioning from small-scale to large-scale operations in a short timeframe (the company will be doubling in size in the next 2+ years).
- Experience anticipating potential pitfalls associated with rapid growth and creating strong mitigation plans.
- Passion and success in developing and promoting middle management and leadership.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of U.S. government contracting.
COO Compensation, Benefits, and Perks – For You
You will work at Company Headquarters in Charleston, SC. You decide how you manage engagements with customers and partners, including travel to satellite offices and customer locations as needed.
Your compensation will be a base salary of $280,000 - $350,000 depending on experience, plus an annual performance bonus.
