About the Job
About Us
Americans for Responsible Innovation (ARI) is a new nonprofit organization dedicated to policy advocacy in the public interest for emerging technology, including artificial intelligence (AI). We believe in establishing a thoughtful governance framework for rapidly advancing technologies that recognizes the importance of safety while continuing to foster innovation.
Our mission is to help U.S. policymakers develop a thoughtful regulatory framework that protects the public from potential risks of advanced AI systems while continuing to foster innovation. ARI takes a bipartisan approach, building coalitions across the political spectrum. We work closely with leading think tanks to translate cutting-edge policy proposals into actionable legislation.
The organization is currently small, but expects to grow to a team of 8-10 staff by the end of 2024. Our goal is to become one of the major players influencing AI policy.
ARI was founded in late 2023 by Brad Carson, a former member of Congress, and Eric Gastfriend, a tech entrepreneur. Our SVP of Government Affairs is a former Senate Chief of Staff.
