About the Job

Responsible for ensuring the delivery of highly competent nursing care across the organization. Conceptualizes and directs initiatives to ensure high-quality and cost-effective nursing practice which supports the mission, vision and values of Exeter Hospital, reflects best practices described by professional nursing associations, and complies with government regulations, and licensing and accreditation requirements. Works with others to create an environment in which interdisciplinary, team-based care is valued; and excellence in nursing practice, education and research is promoted and achieved. Participates in strategic planning as a member of senior management and contributes to the achievement of organizational goals and objectives.

Requirements:

5-7 years Directly related experience
Masters Degree or equivalent
RN license - NH or other Compact State

Major Responsibilities:

Articulates the vision for nursing practice and directs the implementation of strategies to achieve this vision. Ensures an effective ongoing program to measure, assess, and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to patients.

Establishes and oversees criteria for credentialing nursing staff.

Assures that the nursing care delivery model(s) and staffing standards for nursing are evidence based and consistent with professional practice standards and the mission, vision and values of the organization.

Creates a culture for excellent nursing practice and affords nurses the opportunity to practice in a meaningful and accountable way.

Interprets to the organization the ways in which nurses contribute to successful patient outcomes and to the organization's mission; values and goals.

Participates in organization- wide leadership initiatives that ensure excellence in patient care.

Provides leadership and direction for the development of strategies to promote the recruitment, retention, and recognition of excellence in nursing.

Provides recommendations regarding compensation and benefit programs for nursing staff.

Oversees the development of nursing policies; programs; and services that describe how patient care needs and outcomes are assessed, evaluated, and met. Partners with other members of the team in overseeing interdisciplinary patient care policies and practices.
