Department: Executive Management
Reports To: President & CEO
Background: A $50m-$100m aerospace engineering, research and development and supplier company seeks a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to maintain controls and planning of financial performance, treasury actions, and reporting. Must have experience in DCAA-compliant and GAAP-compliant practices, a proven track record of working with management teams (President, CEO, VP's, Board of Directors), and the ability to grow the financial organization in parallel with the growth of the company as a whole. M&A experience a plus.
Summary
Directs the organization's financial planning and accounting practices as well as relationships with lending institutions, shareholders, and the financial community by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy
- As a true partner of the CEO, assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and company's long-term strategy.
- Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and other Executives and makes actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
- Engage the relevant board committees (compensation, governance) around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model(s) and operational delivery.
- Assist in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas, and selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, ESOP Administrators, ESOP trustees.)
- Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with company strategic plan, especially as the organization considers potential acquisitions and collaborations with external organizations.
- Direct and analyze studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations.
Executive Management
- Serve as a member of the executive leadership team
- Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model, and operational execution.
Financial Planning, Analysis and Operations
- Prepare and maintain regular financial stability, liquidity and performance reports (Monthly profit and loss actuals and forecasts, (vs. budget). Quarterly 12-month cash flow forecasts.
- Complete analysis of financial results. Develop recommendations (strategic and tactical) for improving financial results.
- Analyze, consolidate, and direct all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports. Maintain company reputation for on-time payment processing, and advocate for best-in-industry account receivable performance.
- Develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives (e.g. opening new operations, asset acquisition or divesture, new major contracts.)
- Develop and maintain capital budget.
- Assist in development of financial planning and analysis exercises/reports.
- Participate in calls with shareholders and creditors.
- Oversee and direct treasury, budgeting, audit tax, accounting, real estate, long range forecasting, and insurance activities of the organization.
- Direct the controller in providing and directing procedures and computer application systems necessary to maintain proper records to afford adequate, GAAP compliant, accounting.
- Direct the treasurer in activities such as custodian of funds, securities, and assets of organization.
- Coordinate tax strategy and reporting programs and investor relations activities.
- Oversee and directs the preparation and issuance of the corporation's annual financial report.
- Analyze operational issues impacting functional groups and the whole institution and determine their financial impact.
