Chief Financial Officer – Plano, Texas
A forward-thinking public start-up, poised for significant growth in the energy industry, is seeking an exceptional finance professional to take on the critical role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is a unique opportunity to establish and lead the accounting and finance functions in a dynamic, fast-growing organization. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with senior leadership, the CFO will take charge of accounting operations, financial reporting, and strategic financial planning to drive the company’s success.
Position Overview
The company is seeking a dynamic and driven Chief Financial Officer to join its executive team. This role is ideal for an ambitious finance professional with experience in a small public company, who is ready to take the next step in their career. Prior CFO experience is not required, making this an exceptional opportunity to step into your first CFO role and shape the financial strategy of a cutting-edge organization. This is an in-office position.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy: Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy to align with business objectives and drive long-term growth.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversee all financial reporting, including SEC filings, quarterly earnings reports, and annual statements, ensuring full compliance with public company regulations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process, provide accurate financial forecasts, and analyze variances to recommend corrective actions.
- Investor Relations: Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Directors to manage investor relations, including earnings calls, presentations, and shareholder communications.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring the company’s financial stability and health.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior finance role, such as CFO, VP of Finance, Director of Finance, or a comparable leadership position.
- Prior experience in a small public company is mandatory.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and public company compliance standards.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, MBA and CPA preferred.
