Salary Range: $157,500 – $189,000
JOB SUMMARY: Serve as a dynamic executive manager who leads the finance and accounting team. Focus on strategic vision. Actively contribute to ongoing projects and administrative tasks with hands-on involvement in day-to-day operations. Support the mission and vision of the museum throughout the performance of duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE: Excellent ability to articulate and lead the financial and accounting business office and strategic initiatives. Intellectual depth and keen interpersonal judgment, knowledge, and collaborative skills to work effectively with the Director & CEO, Board trustees, Museum staff, and other constituents. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong leadership and management skills with an ability to coach and mentor an effective team. Strong hands-on technical skills with a proficiency in MS Office and advanced Excel skills. Financial Edge NXT experience a plus. Bachelor’s degree and 20 years progressive recent relevant experience and responsibility in the field of accounting and finance, five of which were holding a supervisory and management position with experience directing a multi-functional financial staff. Master’s degree in business administration preferred. CPA required. Non-profit or museum experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Direct accounting and related financial activities of the Museum to ensure sound fiscal administration. Establish internal control procedures to safeguard Museum assets. Manage the Business Office to ensure that the Museum’s financial procedures are performed effectively. Direct cash activities to maintain appropriate cash levels. Supervise the Controller, Senior Accountant, and Accounting Clerk.
- Establish and maintain accounting control over Museum donor-restricted, Board-designated, and endowment funds. Ensure restricted donations are properly accounted for and that proper records are maintained for all donor-restricted, Board-designated, and endowment funds.
- Direct preparation, review, and analysis of timely financial reports, including financial statements and cash flow projections, to ensure Museum’s financial condition is in accordance with guidelines established by Director & CEO and Board.
- Provide and present regular reports of the Museum’s financial results to Museum staff and Board.
- Direct preparation, review, maintenance, and analysis of annual operating budgets and long-range financial projections.
- Partner with Human Resources to prepare and monitor salary and benefit schedules.
- Oversee administration of executive deferred compensation plans and prepare valuation of planned gifts.
- Work with the Director & CEO to establish strategic priorities and facilitate workflow.
- Work with executive leadership in Advancement, Operations, and Programs to ensure financial responsibility in all areas, including revenue and expenses.
- Monitor the Museum’s investment portfolio, implement policies as approved by the Investment Committee, and work with investment consultants.
- Serve as liaison for Museum independent audit firm. Direct Museum staff preparation for annual audit and coordinate issuance of annual financial statements.
- Manage preparation of tax returns, information returns, and related reports to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Serve as executive review and signatory on all Museum contracts.
- Direct, negotiate, and manage Museum’s insurance policies and risk management procedures.
- Serve as Museum liaison to the Finance Committee, Investment Committee, and Audit Committee.
- Attend weekend and evening meetings and events as required.
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
