Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our dynamic team. As a privately owned small business, we value the role of financial leadership in driving our growth and success. The CFO will play a critical role in overseeing all financial aspects of the company, providing strategic guidance to the executive team, and ensuring financial stability and sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Management, Planning and Analysis:
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the finance and accounting functions of the company.
- Enhance and develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the company through systems that will improve the operation and effectiveness of the organization.
- Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and budgets to support the company's objectives and growth initiatives.
- Conduct regular financial analysis and forecasting to provide insights into the company's financial performance and future projections.
- Evaluate financial risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate actions to optimize financial outcomes.
- Recommend present and future technology strategies to support current and future business strategy.
- Provide direction to the human resources team around compensation and benefits to ensure the company is well positioned to attract, develop, and retain employees throughout the company.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial metrics.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and tax obligations.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Work with outside tax advisors to ensure positive positions for shareholders.
Cash Flow Management:
- Manage cash flow effectively to support day-to-day operations, investment activities, and long-term financial goals.
- Implement cash flow forecasting and monitoring mechanisms to anticipate and address liquidity needs and challenges.
- Optimize working capital management strategies to enhance cash flow efficiency.
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, capital investments, and expansion plans.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support key business decisions and initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency improvements.
Risk Management and Internal Controls:
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls and risk management processes to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Monitor and mitigate financial, operational, and strategic risks proactively.
- Implement and maintain adequate insurance coverage to protect against potential liabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, MBA or CPA preferred
- Strong accounting/finance background
- Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting or finance; 5+ years experience as a CFO or senior leadership role.
- Strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and strategic thinking ability.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
