About the Job
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing financial strategies to support the organization's mission and goals. The CFO is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including forecasting funding requirements, managing fiscal programs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of public housing programs, tax credits, and governmental accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute financial strategies to meet long and short-term goals.
- Forecast capital and staffing needs, identify funding sources, and develop action plans.
- Administer, advise, and manage fiscal management programs in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards.
- Coordinate the submission of financial data schedules to HUD and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Supervise budgeting processes and oversee month-end and year-end closings.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee procurement policies.
- Provide financial updates and advice to the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Coordinate employee benefits administration and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including joint venture partners, investors, and community members.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in real estate finance and property management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in public or governmental accounting, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Expert knowledge of public housing programs, tax credits, and governmental accounting standards.
- Strong familiarity with HUD regulations and reporting requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
- Professional certifications such as CPA or CIA preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial management software.
