Job Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer, under the authority of the Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for ensuring our continued growth, sustainability, and providing a vision for continued financial success. The CFO's responsibilities will encompass strategic financial planning, budgeting, accounting, maintaining the accountability of all corporate funds and grants, and much more in alignment with our mission, values and strategic long-term plans.
Job Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning for Growth: Take the lead in positioning the organization for strategic growth. This involves closely monitoring economic conditions, industry standards, and market trends to make informed decisions that align with our business plan. Will be crucial in ensuring that our financial strategy supports our mission and long-term sustainability.
- Financial Reporting and Advice: Provide timely and accurate financial reports, statements, and decision-supported information to the CEO, Board of Directors, and other management team members. Financial insights will be instrumental in guiding the organization's strategic decisions.
- Establishing Financial Standards and Policies: Will have responsibility to set and enforce financial standards, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory guidance. This includes requirements of HHS and HRSA 330 grant requirements, among others
- Oversee or process (if needed) payroll and/or prepare required payroll related reports such as retirement, payroll schedules, etc.
- Prepare for annual independent audit and provide staff support during the audit process
- Performance Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve our financial performance. Implement innovative and cost-effective solutions to drive change management and business process improvement, ensuring that we operate efficiently and effectively
- Staying Informed: Seek out innovative industry best practices and trends. This includes exploring new technologies and systems that can enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and ease of managing our financial operations
- Implements the internal control policies by monitoring the accounting system, accounts receivable, billing, collections purchasing and accounts payable
- Assist in the development of accounting and internal control policy manual
- Maintain accountability of corporate equipment and furnishings by conducting annual physical inventory with reconciliation to corporate reports (updates schedules for additions and deletions)
- Cash Management: Responsible for maximizing returns on our cash assets while minimizing risk. This involves managing bank balances and recommending strategies to ensure the financial health of the organization
- Ensure the proper maintenance of the accounting system and total accountability of corporate funds which includes the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable and fixed assets functions of the accounting department
- Review the monthly Summary Revenue Report and Revenue entries, payments and Adjustments to the general ledger
- Run a summary trial balance and verifies balances to all schedules
- Reconcile, input and disburse all payments from various collection agencies
- Must display adequate leadership skills
- Staffing: Build a strong finance, insurance, and IT teams. Will oversee and participate in the selection, onboarding, training, and determining job responsibilities for all functions
- The Department of Pharmacy will ultimately report directly to the CFO. Will maintain accountabilities for this function along with staying abreast of federal, state and local laws governing the function of such an entity.
- Verify all Practice Management Accounts with all necessary general ledger accounts
- Maintain confidentiality of all corporate records
- Review, create, and update necessary forms for use in the clinics
- Computes year-end inventory totals
- Performs related work, as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance, or Business; Certified Public Accountant Certified (or equivalent experience in senior account roles) or Master's degree in related field, preferred
- 10+ yeas in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, including management experience in complex nonprofit organizations
- 5+ years supervisory experience and managing staff in areas of payroll, A/P, A/R, general ledger entry, grant vouchering, and purchasing
- Healthcare industry and FQHC experience is preferred
- Experience with Revenue Cycle and a track record of success
- Federal, State and Local grant knowledge a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; have knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access) required
- Proven ability to build, grow and lead high-performing finance teams with strong capabilities to both oversee and contribute to critical financial deliverables
- Strong interpersonal skills with the propensity to successfully foster new and maintain long-standing business relationships.
