THE COMPANY
The company is a leading manufacturer & distributor of replacement auto parts for Classic and contemporary vehicles, along with its engine tuning, big power and chassis upgrade solutions, focused on European nameplates.
The company is under PE ownership, with a highly experienced leadership team, serving a fun/enthusiast customer base, creating an exciting opportunity for a CFO to join the leadership team.
THE ROLE_____________________________________________________________________________
The CFO will report directly to the CEO of with a direct line of communication to the PE sponsor. Under the direction of the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for adding shareholder value to the Company through the acquisition and management of financial and information technology resources, HR, Legal matters, and M&A diligence/integration. The CFO will also manage revenue and sales growth; expense, cost, and margin control; and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial goal management.
The CFO of the Company should see themselves as a partner to the CEO, and the financial conscience of the business; a forward thinking, tireless athlete, immersing himself or herself in FP&A in all functional areas of business; analyzing all cost constantly to identify and implement cost savings activities. Working closely with their team, the CFO will need to maintain dashboards that reflect the Company’s KPI’s and identify areas that need to be addressed and then work with the executive team to making the necessary adjustments.
The CFO will have a controller and accounting team reporting to them that will manage the day-to-day financial functions. In addition, IT Manager and HP Manager are direct reports. The CFO will ensure that the financial team focuses on standard costing system, so management can better rely on the data and budget correctly.
The CFO, working through the controller will lead the budgeting process; implementing deeply rooted analysis and granular thinking in all Company operations; and the CFO will also be charged with improving inventory management by working with management to do a better job at focusing on and analyzing GMROI.
The CFO will work with the controller to direct, plan, control and coordinate the overall financial activities of the Company. The CFO is also responsible for all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, and forecasting needs for all operational areas including finance, operations, legal, human resources, investor relations, and office management.
The CFO will establish and maintain relationships with lending institutions, shareholder representatives and the financial community. Along with the other members of senior management and PE sponsor, the CFO will identify and negotiate terms for new capital and will be instrumental in the process of providing financial information and guidance to the shareholders, executive team, and Board of Directors.
RESPONSIBILITIES – WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE CONTROLLER
Financial Reporting and Management
Responsible for developing short-term and long-term financial plans and forecasts as well as overseeing a Controller, and staff who are charged with the following:
- Prepares periodic financial statements in accordance with GAAP including reporting for Investors, Bankers, and others on a timely basis.
- Rapid production of monthly financial statements, audited reports and records of the Company and its operating groups.
- Confirming proper control systems to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
- Preparing periodic reports of budgets and forecasts for management, with attention to cash flow, forecasts, and revenue projections.
- Coordinating audits of records with outside accounting firm.
- Performing cost accounting and ratio analysis of various aspects and divisions of the Company as needed, with an eye on improving profitability.
- Overseeing the development and implementation of a risk management plan with senior management and outside vendors.
- Overseeing the determination of depreciation rates as they apply to capital assets.
- Develops, monitors, and implements necessary changes in the Company’s system of internal controls such that Company’s assets are safeguarded, and information is reported accurately and in a timely manner.
Tax and Regulatory Compliance
- Directs tax planning and reporting including the identification of tax savings opportunities.
- Oversees preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local income tax returns for the Company.
- Oversees preparation and filing of federal and state excise sales tax returns.
- Oversees preparation and filing of all pension forms and related documentation.
- Ensures compliance with all outside regulatory agencies and organizations.
- Coordinates with other department heads to assist with compliance issues as they arise.
- Works closely with external Auditors.
Treasury and Cash Management
- Act as primary contact with banking and lending community.
- Responsible for developing and instituting long and short-term borrowing plans with outside sources.
- Institute cash management policies to maximize short term yield.
- Responsible for the establishment of formal credit policies.
- Oversee collections of accounts receivable to ensure minimum ageing of accounts.
Inventory
Directs the inventory accounting function. Provides information and analysis on a timely basis to operating groups to identify opportunities and risks.
Additional Duties
- Works with senior management to develop strategies for maintaining profitable growth.
- Develops, establishes, and executes operating policies to support overall company policies and objectives.
- Direct and participate in the identification and due diligence of possible acquisitions or mergers.
- Oversees the implementation of standard operating procedures and cutting-edge technologies throughout the Company.
Qualifications/Knowledge Guidelines:
- BS degree
- MBA or CPA preferred.
- Experience with Private Equity
- Minimum 10 years progressive business experience with exposure to entrepreneurial companies with gross sales of $150 Million or greater preferred.
