Job Description Job Title: Chief Engineer Location: Colorado Springs, CO (Hybrid) Clearance required: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility Omni Federal is a highly specialized software solutions provider focused on modern application development, cloud, and data analytics for the Federal government. We are seeking a passionate Chief Engineer to support our exciting Space program. The Chief Engineer serves as the primary technical authority responsible for the successful design, development, and integration of all systems within the program. This role encompasses leading and managing all engineering activities to ensure alignment with program objectives, schedules, and budgets. Key responsibilities include overseeing the technical execution of the program, ensuring that the systems engineering team adheres to established standards, requirements, and design specifications. The Chief Engineer will coordinate and conduct formal technical reviews (e.g., System Requirements Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews, and Critical Design Reviews), perform risk assessments, and lead issue resolution processes, ensuring timely identification and mitigation of technical risks and challenges. They will also be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed engineering plans, schedules, technical roadmaps, and comprehensive technical documentation to support all major program milestones and contractual deliverables. Specific duties include leading a multidisciplinary engineering team, overseeing system architecture development, and ensuring design integrity across all subsystems. The Chief Engineer will mentor and guide engineering personnel, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure that engineering best practices and processes are consistently applied throughout the program. They will serve as the primary technical liaison between the engineering team and program management, translating complex technical information into actionable insights for leadership. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will be responsible for regularly interfacing with key stakeholders, delivering technical briefings, conducting technical reviews, and providing updates on engineering progress. The Chief Engineer must ensure that all engineering activities comply with customer expectations, contractual obligations, and industry standards, while proactively addressing and solving any technical challenges that could impact the program's success. What you will do: * Execute and monitor project activities.
* Manage changes to scope, cost and schedule of project work.
* Coordinate priorities and resources between multiple projects.
* Prepare and update project plans and status reports.
* Coordinate cross-functional meetings of personnel related to project.
* Facilitate sessions to effectively resolve issues if any.
* Utilize corporate quality processes to track project schedule and cost.
* Report status, develop project-related documentation and implement lessons learned.
* Participate in project performance review meetings and discussions.
* Participate in corporate business development activities.
* Update and maintain production and quality metrics of projects. Basic Qualifications: * BS with 10 years of relevant technical experience or MS with 5 years of relevant technical experience
* Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
* Space Systems experience
* Experience successfully delivering on innovation projects within the DoD
* Expert level experience in Cloud architecture and evolution
* Experience with high performance Hardware systems using VMware technologies
* MBSE knowledge
* Mission Data processing systems and frameworks
* Acquisition background in requirements development Desired Skills: * Master's Degree in Project Management or Program Management
* Agile team development and Agile Project Management
* Earned Value Management background and experience
* Experience with software architecture, design, and testing
* Experience with release management tools and techniques
* Experience in production with space systems, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, or other automated deployment, scaling, and management of containerized application principles
