SCOPE OF WORK
Under general supervision, the Chief Engineer is pivotal in overseeing the engineering staff's daily operations. This entails efficient management and maintenance of the hotel facility, encompassing the structural integrity of the building, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and associated equipment. The Chief Engineer diligently upholds energy conservation practices and implements proactive maintenance programs. By preserving the physical infrastructure of the hotel, the chief engineer guarantees the safety and well-being of guests while facilitating seamless operations across all hotel departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively coordinate and supervise repairs, renovations, and upgrades to the hotel’s physical infrastructure.
Develop and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance program encompassing all hotel equipment, such as HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, elevators, and fire safety equipment.
Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests from hotel guests and staff, ensuring their needs are addressed in a timely manner.
Ensure strict adherence to applicable building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards, prioritizing the well-being of guests and employees.
Conduct regular inspections of the hotel premises to proactively identify and resolve potential safety hazards and maintenance issues.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of equipment inventory, maintenance activities, and associated expenditures.
Foster productive collaborations with external contractors, suppliers, and vendors to secure necessary services, equipment, and materials.
Provide comprehensive training and guidance to the engineering staff on proper equipment operation, maintenance techniques, and adherence to safety protocols.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement energy conservation measures that maintain high-quality standards and ensure guest comfort.
Collaborate with the general manager to develop and manage the engineering department’s budget, overseeing operational expenses.
Evaluate vendor proposals and skillfully negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms and promote cost-effectiveness.
Advises manager of preventive maintenance inspections performed and corrective actions to be taken.
Must work in a safe manner on a daily basis and ensure that all safety measures are taken at all times.
Flexibility to work overtime, on-call and weekends, as required.
Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees.
Follow safety guidelines and protocols at all times.
Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Consistently strive for improvement in both team and self.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent GED
3-5 years of hotel, building maintenance, or civil engineering experience is required.
2-3 years of management experience.
Exceptional follow-through; strong organizational skills, and time management skills necessary
In-depth knowledge of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire safety systems.
Able to obtain and/or maintain any government-required licenses, certificates, or permits.
When required, be available at the hotel during bad weather conditions.
Applicants must be able to work weekends & holidays.
Reliable transportation required.
Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices.
Must have comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and the application of loss control measures.
Must be able to travel to the jobsite(s) as assigned.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science diploma or other college degree in Electrical or Civil engineering preferred.
Property maintenance certifications such as: National Association of Hotel and Lodging Engineers’ Certified Chief Engineer (CCE), American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute’s Certified Maintenance Employee (CME), HVAC License, Certified Pool and Spa Operator (CPO) License
In-depth knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within the engineering department of a hotel or a similar facility.
Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
Able to lift up to sixty (60) pounds.
Capable of ascending ladders up to a height of thirty (30) feet
Employees may be required to stand or walk over 75% of the time.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Working near moving mechanical parts.
Working in high or precarious places may be required.
Fumes or airborne particles may be present at worksites.
Employees may work in outdoor conditions.
