About the Job
The Commissioner of Revenue's Office is accepting applications for our Chief Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue! We are seeking a talented leader to plan, organize and direct the day-to-day operations of the Commissioner of Revenue department, including overseeing the administration of revenue producing assessment programs, such as personal property, business, professional and occupational licenses, tax relief, and real property assessment, and supervising employees.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, knowledgeable, and proactive professional with a strong understanding of tax laws, policies, and procedures. This individual should possess exceptional leadership and communication skills, have a background in revenue administration, and demonstrate a commitment to public service.
The hiring range is: $87,193.60 - $119,891.20, DOQ

Essential Job Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Supervises and manages department employees, including assigning tasks, evaluating performance, resolving personnel issues, and making staffing recommendations
- Coordinates daily operations of the revenue-producing assessment program and ensure compliance with all relevant codes and policies
- Processes and oversees tax-related transactions, including abatements, supplements, assessments, and billing decisions
- Administers and manages Tax Relief and Exemption programs for eligible residents.
- Oversees departmental software systems and collaborate with IT to maintain and enhance technology solutions
- Develops and implements departmental policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure operational efficiency
- Monitors and interprets legislation affecting tax policies and recommend actions to the Commissioner of Revenue
- Compiles, analyzes, and maintains financial and statistical data for internal and external reporting
- Assists in developing and administering department budget
- Certifies and processes State Board of Compensation budget
- Represents the City in court on matters involving real estate, personal property, business licenses, and tax disputes
- Provides notary services to City residents
- Acts on behalf of the Commissioner of Revenue as needed
- Performs other related work as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or a related field; supplemented by five (5) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in tax assessment, appraisal or collections; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Special Requirements
Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access), and Adobe Professional. Knowledge of Tyler Munis/Enterprise ERP is a plus!
Must be a Notary Public or obtain Notary Public licensure.
