As a Chief CEI Inspector, your responsibilities will include guiding a team of inspectors to assigned to projects throughout Texas. You will also perform your own inspections, monitoring the contractor’s on-site construction activities, performing inspections, and conducting field material sampling and testing to ensure conformance to project plans and specifications. This position can be based in any location in the state of Texas. Project-based travel is required.
Responsibilities:- Supervise, guide, and mentor a team of construction inspectors
Coordinate team schedules and monitor direct reports’ performance - Depending on the project, you may perform the following duties directly or you may oversee the work of other inspectors on job sites:
- Monitor on-site construction activities
- Perform field sampling and testing of component materials in accordance with the construction contract
- Inspect materials and completed work in accordance with client’s scope of services (plans, specifications, and special provisions)
- Inspect traffic control devices and equipment; report deficiencies to ensure compliance with standards
- Maintain detailed, accurate records of daily operations and significant events
- Prepare inspection reports
- Participate in the development of job safety practices and observe general job safety practices
- Review inspector reports
- Adhere to company marketing requirements by providing timely resume updates and participating in marketing campaigns
- Responsible for supervising a team of inspectors
- Available to work daytime, nighttime, and/or weekend shifts as required
- Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports
- Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals
COMPETENCIES
- Possesses excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in full suite of Microsoft office programs and Adobe Acrobat
- Detail oriented, ability to read and interpret project drawings and specifications
- Maintains a positive attitude and collaborative spirit
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
- Position requires walking/standing for extensive periods of time
- High school graduate or equivalent plus ten (10) years’ experience in highway/bridge construction inspection, three (3) years of which shall have been as a construction project manager, responsible for leading technical staff and inspectors on highway/bridge construction projects.
- Valid Driver’s License and a clear driving record
- Must have or be able to obtain TxDOT pre-certification in work category 11.3.1 for Construction Superintendent within 12 months.
- Must have or be able to obtain within 12 months some or all of the following certifications, as determined by job assignments: TxDOT Hot Mix Asphalt Specialist Certification (Level 1A / Level 1B), ACI certification Strength, ACI Certification Grade 1, Materials Analyst Specialist Certification (SB101 / SB102), Qualified Compliance Inspector of Stormwater (QCIS)
