Position Summary:
The Chief Business Operations Officer is responsible for the overall financial and business operations leadership of the Girl Scouts of Orange County. They are responsible for providing effective stewardship, control and oversight of the corporation's financial and business functions including finance & accounting, IT, business services, HR, and facilities. This role reports to the CEO.
As member of the Executive Team, this role will participate in the strategic planning process, setting of strategic priorities, and executive leadership of the Council. They will provide management support to the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Audit Committee, Friends of the Girl Scouts Board of Trustees, and other Board task groups.
Here's What You'll Do:
Leadership: Directs the management and operations of HR, businesses services, and properties. Manages, coaches, motivates and evaluates direct reports. Fosters employee development, engagement and retention.
Financial & Strategic Planning: Responsible for the Council's overall financial plans, policies and controls, along with its relationship with the financial community. Collaborates with the finance team in financial analysis & planning, forecasting, investments, and lending agreements. With the Finance Director, develops and prepares financial analyses of operations for guidance of management. Primary contact for banking relationships and insurance. Collaborates with the Executive Team and Board of Directors to ensure efficient business process, facility oversight, and the ongoing financial viability of GSOC.
Additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
Here's What We're Looking For:
- Significant experience as a CFO or senior financial and operations executive for an organization with a $10+ million operating budget.
- At least 5 years HR leadership experience with HRCI/SHRM certification preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or related fields is required. MBA degree a plus. CPA or CMA preferred.
- 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization work experience highly preferred.
- Strong visionary and leadership skills are a top requirement. Demonstrated results in increasing the performance and strengthening processes in a multi-functional operation.
- Extensive experience in managing multiple interdependent functions and staff. Highly capable in day-to-day operational management.
- Proactive, hands-on leader who collaborates and works effectively as part of an integrated team. Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate teams in a constructive, collaborative environment.
- Strategic and analytical thinker. Proven ability to exercise good judgment in problem-solving and decision-making.
- Outstanding oral and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholder groups, including the Board of Directors.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Excellent project planning, management and implementation skills. Able to drive process improvements. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Proven record of personal integrity, responsibility and ethical conduct.
- Detailed competency with mid-range accounting software systems such as Abila Fund Accounting or Blackbaud Financial Edge.
- Solid knowledge and experience in managing Information Technology.
- Good knowledge and experience in overseeing the Risk Management function.
- Bilingual ability a plus.
- Licensed and insured California driver; must pass background screening including driving.
