About the Job
In This Role, You Will:
- Provide direct engineering support to plant operations, ensure objectives for the 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant are consistently progressed and successfully met.
- Work with the Operations Manager and all levels of employees onsite to deliver new, innovative, safe, and reliable performance solutions and production improvements.
- Translate guidelines and standards into practice, troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Design, create, and modify process flow diagrams (PFD) and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) drawings for the plant as required.
- Perform process models, hydraulic calculations, and simulations.
- Develop instrument data sheets and specifications, complete documentation for work performed in the plant.
- Participate in client hazard and operability reviews, process hazard analysis reviews, and lead cross functional project teams to mitigate risk.
- Identify, evaluate, and justify and start up process improvements to increase production capacity, improve operating liability, reduce manufacturing costs and energy usage, conserve raw materials, improve both product yields and product quality.
- Support annual turnaround and all major maintenance activities onsite.
- Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
- Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find a solution for or deal proactively with work related problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams.
- Fundamental knowledge of chemical manufacturing equipment and components.
- Ability to adapt methods in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with contractors, vendors, and with colleagues throughout the organization.
- Must possess the ability to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
- Ability to work well independently as well as a team environment to exceed strategic goals, handle multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines.
- Thorough understanding of how to operate and troubleshoot a distributed control system (DCS), Arcanum uses a Honeywell system.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment drawings, safety procedures, including federal and state OSHA guidelines.
- Must have a strong understanding of properties, behaviors, and hazards of equipment onsite at a chemical plant.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related discipline from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technical (ABET) institution.
- Five years of experience in process engineering in a chemical manufacturing plant within the chemical or petrochemical related industry.
- Strong leadership skills required to oversee projects with a thorough understanding of basic engineering principles.
- Demonstrated expertise in process engineering and process technology principles.
- Experience working in Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facilities.
