Salary: $32-35/hour
Essential Functions of Job:
- Follow facility policy as it relates to patient care, treatment, intervention, and documentation.
- Provides CD education/services specific to the special needs of residents
- Provides CD education/services specific to the special needs of patients contracted by Department of State Hospitals (DSH)
- Ensures that the CD program meets all relevant CONREP/MIO program requirements and standards
- Conducts program compliance with governing local, state, and federal codes and regulations, as well as corporate policies and procedures.
Job Qualification:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in psychology, social work, or related field
- At least 3 years experience with inpatient and forensic populations
- Certified CD or Substance Abuse Counselor or Therapist (e.g., CADC I, CADC II, or equivalent)
Job Responsibilities:
- Plans and oversees CD program initiatives in collaboration with the Administrator, Program Director and Clinical Director
- Participate in program development and administration as part of ensuring the integrity and success of CD programs and services
- Participate in new admission assessment meetings to assist in assessing for the presence of a dual diagnosis comprised of Axis I, though or emotional disorder, and CD issues
- Offer CD education meetings for group-appropriate dually diagnosed forensic patients
- Offer individual CD education sessions to dually-diagnosed forensic patients
- Oversee and conduct individual and group therapy and psycho-social rehabilitation components of service delivery and the maintenance of ethical and exemplary therapy services
- Communicate with patients’ family members, conservators, and ancillary services when appropriate
- Provide diverse and appropriate CD educational and support experiences to all CD patients
- Demonstrate effective and consistent therapeutic Crisis Intervention
- Attend and participate in CONREP Unit staff meetings, designated committee meetings, and resident care plan conferences
- Attend and participate in Patient Status meetings
- Attend and participate in New Patient intakes
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings
- Remain current on profession through attendance at continuing education programs. Maintain sufficient CEUs to keep CATC certification
- Remain current on profession by attending mental health conferences
- Coordinate and supervise both on-site and off-site AA/NA events and outings and otherwise encourage forensic residents toward becoming active members of the 12-step community
- Facilitate outings to CD outreach activities
- Communicate to forensic residents, forensic staff members and the outside community the purposes and achievements of the forensic chemical dependency program through in-service training and supervision of invited guests (when appropriate)
- Coordinate goals and after-care planning with treatment team (social services, rehab and nursing case managers, clinical treatment team)
- Attend and participate in forensic multi-disciplinary quarterly staffing meetings to provide input on CD treatment
- Conduct regular in-service trainings with a view to educate staff on relevant issues pertinent to CD population
- Lead and train CD staff and interns engaged in related therapeutic/client care activities, as appropriate
- Develop and implement CD program policy as necessary
- Ensure that staff adhere to agency Policies and Procedures
- Communicate with Administrator, Program Director, Clinical Director, and Director of Nursing (DON) regarding patient needs and interventions
- Assist in initial and ongoing training for Urinalysis (UA) collection procedure.
COVID-19 considerations:
*Initial screening interview online. Other COVID-19 precautions and training upon admission. COVID-19 vaccination and weekly testing currently required by LA County Public Health and CDPH.
