Duffy's Chef Job Description
Reports to: General Manager
Job Summary: Responsible for preparation, presentation, and service of all menu items. Also responsible for interviewing, training, and developing Back of House staff. Ultimately responsible for managing the kitchen.
Major areas of responsibility:
•Monitor activities of individuals to ensure safety and compliance with rules.
•Check quality of foods and supplies.
•Temp check all equipment and record data on specified forms.
•Coordinate timing of orders so that items served together.
•Write schedules for all Back of House staff and determine what stations line cooks are working.
•Assist in training all Back of House staff.
•Prepare and cook foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.
•Order materials and supplies.
•Manage food service operations or parts of operations.
•Estimate supplies, ingredients, or staff requirements for food preparation activities.
•Record operational and production data.
•Schedule equipment maintenance and repair.
•Communicate with guests to resolve complaints or ensure satisfaction.
•Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
•Check the quality of raw or cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
•Determine production schedules and staff requirements necessary to ensure timely delivery of services.
•Check the quantity and quality of received products.
•Supervise or coordinate activities of cooks or workers engaged in food preparation.
•Instruct cooks or other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, or presentation of food.
•Recruit and interview Back of House candidates.
•Order food or other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation.
•Coordinate planning, budgeting, or purchasing for all the food operations.
•Inspect supplies, equipment, or work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.
•Estimate amounts and costs of required supplies, such as food and ingredients.
•Plan, direct, or supervise food preparation or cooking activities.
•Demonstrate new cooking techniques or equipment to staff.
•Meet with guests to discuss menus for special occasions, such as weddings, parties, or banquets.
•Maintain Food Manager Certification.
•Maintain a positive and professional approach to coworkers and customers.
