About the Job
We are looking to hire a long-term Chef who has a passion for cooking, serving, events and working with others for a family in West Lake Hills in Austin, TX. Only interested in local candidates! Family has residences in San Francisco, NYC and outside of Atlanta they occasionally visit. Family enjoys moderate professional and personal travel; Chef should be open to travel when/if needed (i.e. long weekends, weeks, and occasionally for a month or so). Family employs a small onsite team, so some cooking for onsite team members will also be expected, as well as cooking for extended family members, friends and guests as needed. Bonus if Chef has professional training, as well as experience cooking many types of cuisines, cooking for children, and cooking for those with dietary restrictions.
Responsibilities:
- Well versed in menu creation, healthy cooking, cooking for nutritional value, calorie counting, preparing dishes relevant to the seasons, and vegetarian styles
- Take feedback well and course adjust with meals and cuisines when required
- Work in partnership with physical trainers, nutritionists, Doctors, etc. to ensure optimal nutritional intake
- Open to working both onsite at the Family’s residences/vacation homes, as well as working from Chef’s own home and delivering meals, per Family’s discretion
- Open to trying new dishes and drinks; enjoy being innovative to keep dishes exciting and fresh
- Looking to work for a growing family (currently, couple with toddler and dog; Grandparents often present)
- Maintain professional growth throughout the years
- Happy to pitch in and lend a hand with some basic home help such as seldom dog care requests, i.e. occasional walking/feeding
- Maintain a very organized, clean, sanitary kitchen, including taking great care of all kitchen and dining items
- Purchase items and supplies when needed; keep stock of all inventory
- Have moral integrity, employ honesty, use discretion and good judgment
- Work well independently, as well as collaboratively and cooperatively with others
- Run errands and perform shopping related to food/beverages
- Place food/beverage orders and source food/beverages and event items (i.e. serveware, barware, linens, etc.) as needed
- Maintain documents related to inventory of food, beverages, and dishware; food prep and preferences; shopping lists; budgets and timesheets pertaining to the Chef and his/her duties
- Maintain proper food storage at appropriate temperatures, in appropriate containers with clear labeling and heating instructions
- Prepare restaurant recommendations and meal plans when needed
- Assist with events and restaurant reservations
Compensation: DOE; Employer Paid Health Benefits: Medical, dental and vision
PTO: 7 sick days; 10 vacation days (vacation days need to be approved in advance)
