SUMMARY:
The Chef de Cuisine is responsible for designing the menu, hiring, and training kitchen staff, collaborating with restaurant management, optimizing staff productivity, and stepping in to help wherever needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, organize, and direct all culinary activities in the kitchen.
- Prepare the food for cooking.
- Ensure that all food meets the highest quality standards and is served on time.
- Keep up with industry trends and create new recipes with the Sous Chef.
- Review the menu and do inventory.
- Follow the budget set by the Restaurant Manager.
- Order food for the kitchen.
- Monitor food production and food and staff costs.
- Hire and train staff to prepare and cook all the menu items.
- Create Recipes, determine portion sizes, and estimate food requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen and ensure sanitation practices in the kitchen.
- Perform any other duties requested by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Chef de Cuisine or similar role in a restaurant.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Italian Cuisine.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules.
- Friendly, responsible, and punctual.
- Customer Services Oriented.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Attention to detail, cleanliness, and safety.
- Creative, innovative thinking.
EDUCATION:
- Culinary degree required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English and Spanish (preferred).
REASONING ABILITY:
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, associates, and external partners.
- Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
