IDR is seeking a talented and experienced Character Artist III to join one of our top clients in the gaming industry. This is a remote position, ideal for candidates based in Los Angeles. Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Character Artist III:
Provide clear and constructive feedback to internal and external artists to ensure product quality standards and project art pillars are met
Interpret and push concept designs in 3D within technical constraints, optimizing for dynamic animations and deformations
Collaborate with other disciplines to create 3D assets that meet all aesthetic, technical, and product standards for premium champion skins
Mentor character artists, delivering feedback to aid in their growth
Contribute to documentation for best practices, workflow guides, style guides, and process/tutorial guides
Occasionally travel overseas to provide training directly to external artists and connect with external teams
Required Skills for Character Artist III:
5+ years’ experience in the video games industry as a character artist
Excellent knowledge of human anatomy, form, and color theory
Proficiency in modeling, sculpting, and texturing programs such as Maya, Substance Painter, Marmoset Toolbag, ZBrush, Photoshop, and 3DCoat
Experience creating high quality, hand-painted stylized characters
Experience working with external partners and mentoring artists
Interest in international travel for onsite training and conferences
