Job Summary and Qualifications
- Prevention of athletic injuries: Through the use standard strength and conditioning principles, athletic injuries will be reduced for the athletes’ competition/play abilities. During workouts, there will be constant supervision of proper technique and form to prevent workout injuries. Inspect and report defects to equipment.
- Implementation of group and individual specific strength and conditioning programs: Either from standard programs or through specific program development, strength and conditioning programs will be developed for both group and individual activity/sport goals.
- Rehabilitation and Reconditioning of Athletic Injuries: Will participate with physical therapists in the development and supervision of Post-rehab patients’ programs.
- Health Care Administration: Programs and progress of all clients are documented at each visit.
- Professional Development and Responsibility: Will maintain all required certifications and licenses. Maintains current continuing education requirements for the profession and participates in program profession education program.
- Departmental Policies: Demonstrates compliance with all departmental policies, including appropriate charging for services, requesting for time off (PTO), appropriate use of PTO and MDP.
- Communication: Records and observations, demonstrates timely communications with physicians and other staff regarding any pertinent patient care and/or department issues. Makes recommendations to supervisor and/or departmental director any changes in policy and procedure that will improve departmental and patient care processes.
- Education: Completes all initial/mandatory education within 3 months of hire, to include general and departmental
- orientation, CPR, and skills checklist. Completes all annual education requirements as outlined in the departmental education plan. Attends a minimum of four (4) in services per year and/or other outside education required and/or approval by the supervisor.
- Committees: Serves on departmental Education or Practice Committee, as assigned or on an interdepartmental committee and demonstrates active participation.
- Supervision of Supportive Personnel: Demonstrates effective and appropriate use of support staff based on departmental policy, as evidenced by efficient patient treatment and staff utilization.
- Staff Resource: Provides timely and adequate clinical information or resources for information on request
- from staff. Recommends additions to departmental and hospital library and provides inservices on specialty related topics when requested by staff or outside interests.
- Administrative Duties: Assumes responsibility for assigned areas consistently and those assigned during the lead CSCS’s absence, including scheduling, coordination of staff and assignment of patient issues. Maintains volume statistics for area and uses this data to improve operations
- Student/ Resident Internship Program: Participates as a lead clinical supervisor for college student interns working within this dept. to gain CSCS experience towards college and/or CSCS certification. This is to include all appropriate documentation and evaluations and the adequate supervision of the students. May be responsible for overall coordination of the student intern program as the designee of the supervisor.
- Department Environment of Care: Department environment of care is maintained according to all appropriate standards and policies, in reference to cleanliness, stocking of supplies, patient/employee safety, pharmacy controls, equipment safety checks and the recording of all appropriate documentation.
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelors Degree
Licensure:
- CSCS Credential from the National Strength & Conditioning Association
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
