Certified Power BI Report Developer
Location: Brooklyn, NY (130 Livingston) – Hybrid (4 Days Onsite, 1 Day Remote Eligible After 30 Days)
Duration: 12 Months
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, based on SME availability and requirements
Client Overview:
A leading transit organization is seeking a Certified Power BI Report Developer to support its Expense Analysis Unit. The role involves working with data analytics, financial reporting, and business process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency across the Department of Subways (DOS).
Job Overview:
As a Power BI Report Developer, you will work with the DOS Finance team to design, develop, and implement Power BI reports and dashboards. You will focus on budgeting, expense forecasting, and providing valuable insights to support financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Budget Planning & Reporting:
- Develop budget proposals and create analytic plans to assess Operating and Capital funding requests.
- Monitor spending to ensure it aligns with budget allocations.
- Forecast expenses to support financial planning and decision-making.
Power BI Development:
- Build mock-up reports for proof-of-concept reviews.
- Configure Power BI solutions to provide meaningful insights for business stakeholders.
- Support end-to-end data lifecycle management, ensuring accuracy and completeness in data loads.
Testing & Documentation:
- Create, validate, execute, and document test cases in collaboration with the DOS Business lead.
- Develop end-user training materials and assist in conducting training sessions.
Support & Maintenance:
- Assist with post-implementation go-live support and ongoing Power BI sustainment efforts.
- Manage JetDocs ticketing by implementing Business Process Improvement (BPI) techniques (e.g., SLAs, breach notifications, priority levels).
- Address user inquiries, troubleshoot system issues, and resolve errors.
Deliverables:
- Power BI solutions for DOS Finance.
- Configured Power BI reports that communicate key insights to business units.
- Optimized workflows and ticket management for improved efficiency.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3-4 years of experience using Microsoft Power BI for analytics and reporting.
- 2+ years of experience in data visualization, modeling, and testing of Power BI reports.
- Proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), ETL processes, SQL, and data integration.
- Strong understanding of relational database design and functionality.
- Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, capable of working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate at all organizational levels.
Preferred:
- 1-2 years of experience in the Railroad/Transit industry.
- Experience with Agile project delivery.
- Proficiency in developing business processes using Power Automate and SharePoint.
- Experience designing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and creating dashboards to track performance.
- Familiarity with handling Position Requisition Forms (PRFs).
- PL-300: Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification.
Additional Skills:
- Enhanced business intelligence using Star Schema, joins, and subqueries for advanced Power BI features.
- Experience customizing solutions in Power Platform (applications, flows, and business rules).
Work Arrangement:
- 4 days onsite at the Brooklyn office, with 1 day remote eligibility after 30 days.
