Job DescriptionThe Pharmacy Tech, Certified-PHARMACY reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, assists in the various activities of the Pharmacy Services Department not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. Such duties include but need not be limited to: Maintaining patient records, Setting up, packaging, and labeling medication doses, Filling and dispensing routine orders for stock supplies of patient-care areas, and maintaining inventories of drug supplies. Certified Pharmacy Technicians function in strict accordance with standard written procedures and guidelines, any deviation from which must be approved by the supervising pharmacist.
This position is part-time, 40 hours per pay period, day shift, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with alternating weekends and holidays.
QualificationsHigh school graduate and must be registered with the State of Illinois as a Pharmacy Technician; must be certified with the Pharmacy Certification Board (PTCB) within 6 months of hire. Some college preferred (medical terminology and/or pharmacology). Computer knowledge required, with typing 20-30 wpm. Mathematical aptitude necessary. Hospital experience preferred. Finger and hand dexterity necessary to handle many small articles, needle, syringes, unit dose equipment and to perform data processing.
