About the Job
Work Shift - Hybid Available
Services will be provided Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, eastern time, in accordance with New York State's official work schedule. All Paralegals are to work 7.50 hours each day, allowing for a 30-minute lunch break. Two fifteen-minute breaks, one in the am hours and one in the pm hours are allowed on state time. Breaks may not be used to shorten the workday.
Prospective candidates may have the option to work 100% remote, Hybrid, or 100% All Paralegals, even those working remotely, will have to report to the OAH office location, when directed: to obtain and return equipment; for purposes of training; to resolve equipment issues; and, if/when operationally required.

Requested Services:
Paralegal services to draft decisions after fair hearings based on written guidance from the presiding Administrative Law Judge, evidence, audio recordings, and standardized, proprietary decision drafting software. Paralegals may be directed to listen to hearings as they happen and state their appearance on the record.
Administrative Law Judges will provide Paralegals with recommended outcomes, credibility assessments, and other relevant information required for Paralegals to utilize proprietary decision drafting software to create a draft decision including correct and relevant law, findings of fact, analysis, and directives.
Paralegals will work under the direct supervision of an OAH attorney. Paralegals must have knowledge of basic legal processes; legal terminology and legal forms; legal research techniques; ability to read, understand, and interpret laws, legal documents, and other written material Paralegals must: use OTDA equipment as required - including, but not limited to, an OTDA issued computer and Microsoft Suite software; understand, speak, and write English; raise safety and professional concerns to direct supervisor(s); complete assigned trainings; and develop competency with OAH's proprietary decision drafting software.

Selected Paralegals will be expected to report to the new office location, as required below, at the time of the move. All Paralegals, even those working remotely, will have to report to the OAH office location, 50 Clinton Street, Hempstead, NY 11550/Suite 100 125 East Bethpage Road, Plainview, NY 11803, when directed: to obtain and return equipment; for purposes of training; to resolve equipment issues; and, if/when operationally required

- Possess paralegal certification.
- Have a minimum of two years of experience providing complex clerical level legal support services to an attorney.
