A well-known insurance/litigation firm is searching for a paralegal to join the team on a permanent basis! This position will feature drafting discovery demands, processing deposition transcripts, preparing trail/arbitration hearing binders, as well as other duties. Pay: $80,000/year Location: Woodbury, NY (Long Island) Hours: 9:00-6:00, Monday through Friday (Hybrid available) Responsibilities include: • Works with attorneys to develop legal arguments, motions and other case filings. • Utilizes existing files and a variety of other research resources to develop information for pending cases. • Drafts discovery demands and responses, including, but not limited to, Requests for Production, Interrogatories, Notices for Discovery and Inspection and Requests for Admissions. • Processes deposition transcripts. • Prepares trial and arbitration hearing binders. • Assists with drafting documents such as: Motion to Strike, Motion for Continuances, Proposed Orders, Requests for Judicial Notice, Evidentiary Objections, etc. • Assists with e-filing in State, Federal and Appellate Courts and checks the Court’s local rules. • Prepares timelines and demonstrative exhibits. • Drafts routine legal correspondence. • Prepares first set of exhibits for motions, discovery responses, etc. • Reviews outgoing document production, including redacting and Bates stamping. • Creates Preservation of Evidence Letter and Document Request Letters. • Performs legal research. • Conducts social media searches. • Processes HIPAA authorizations and follow up with providers for medical records. • Reviews, summarize and analyze medical records to assist with defense of action. • Other duties, as needed, to support firm and office operations. Qualifications and Skills: • College Degree preferred. • Paralegal certificate required. • Excellent communication and organization abilities. • Industry recognized certification from organizations such as ABA, NALA or AACP. • Experience in using legal database software. • Familiarity with legal terminology and principles. • The ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy. • Strong technology skills. • The ability to perform legal research. • Strong organizational skills; must be detail oriented. • Familiarity with NYSCEF and PACER. • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion with limited guidance
