Kako'o Services has an opportunity for a civilian Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to work part time at the Fairfax Ambulatory Care Clinic in Fairfax, VA.
Location: Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) Ambulatory Care Clinics - Fairfax Ambulatory Care Clinic
Schedule: 20 hours a week (2 weekdays per week) with possibility to extend days.
Responsibilities:
- Use assessment tools, intervention techniques and treatment modalities under the plan of care of a credentialed provider.
- Use complex/multi-step instructions with patients, caregivers, and other health care professionals and adapt those instructions according to the learning styles of the trainees or individuals receiving the instructions.
- Identify, recommend and fabricate, as needed, complex adaptive and assistive devices, durable medical equipment and complex dynamic splinting, after consultation with the occupational therapist.
The Position will have the following requirements:
- 1 year of experience in an upper extremity outpatient orthopedic clinic
- Minimum two years experience as a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Hand specialty preferred
Position Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Associate Degree program.
Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) as determined by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) or National Board Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), or state licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Outpatient orthopedic experience or hand specialist required
- Possess a minimum of one-year experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant within the preceding 3 years OR have graduated from a Occupational Therapy Assistant program within the preceding year.
Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
