Our organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permanent Certified Occupancy Specialist - Section 8 to join our dynamic team in the Accounting and Finance industry. As a Certified Occupancy Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our affordable housing programs. You will be responsible for certifying and recertifying tenants, interpreting and implementing HUD regulations, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state programs. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, has a passion for affordable housing, and is committed to making a difference in our community.
Responsibilities:
As a Certified Occupancy Specialist, your main duties will include:
1. Managing the application, certification, and recertification processes for all HUD-assisted tenants.
2. Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including the Code of Federal Regulations.
3. Interpreting and implementing HUD regulations and guidelines.
4. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of tenant income, assets, and expenses.
5. Conducting annual and interim recertification interviews and processing all related paperwork.
6. Providing information and assistance to tenants regarding their rights and responsibilities under the Section 8 program.
7. Collaborating with property management and other staff to ensure the effective operation of our affordable housing programs.
8. Keeping up-to-date with changes in HUD regulations and attending relevant training sessions and seminars.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you must have:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the Accounting and Finance industry.
2. Certificates as an Occupancy Specialist, UD Occupancy Specialist, and Tax Credit Specialist.
3. Extensive knowledge of Fair Housing laws and regulations.
4. Familiarity with federal and state program regulation and eligibility requirements, including the Code of Federal Regulations.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with tenants, staff, and management.
6. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
7. Proficiency in using computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite and property management software.
