Overview
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a crucial role in providing patient care under the supervision of nursing staff. They are the backbone of healthcare facilities, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care and comfort. As a CNA, you will assist patients with daily activities, help in monitoring their health status, and provide emotional support during their recovery or treatment process. This role is essential in fostering the well-being of patients and enhancing their quality of life. In addition to direct patient care, CNAs are responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, ensuring the comfort of patients, and supporting the nursing team in delivering comprehensive healthcare services. This position requires dedication, compassion, and a commitment to respecting patient privacy and dignity.
Key Responsibilities
Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
Monitor patients’ vital signs, including temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure.
Help with mobility and transferring patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, and other locations.
Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
Ensure cleanliness and safety in patient rooms and common areas.
Prepare and maintain patient records and documentation as required.
Assist with medical procedures and medical equipment usage as directed by nursing staff.
Follow care plans and report any significant changes in patients’ conditions to the nursing team.
Help patients with exercises and physical therapy activities as instructed.
Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment, notifying nursing staff of any shortages.
Respect patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Assist in feeding patients, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
Maintain a supportive environment for patients and their families.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions.
Promote a positive, respectful, and safe atmosphere for all patients.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program.
Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited organization.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Compassionate and patient-centered mindset.
Basic understanding of medical terminology and basic healthcare practices.
Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Ability to lift and move patients safely.
Strong observational skills to monitor patients' conditions.
Proficiency in using medical equipment such as blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, etc.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends.
Stamina to perform physical tasks involved in patient care.
Knowledge of infection control practices.
Willingness to undergo background checks and pre-employment screenings.
