About the Job
Boston Medical Center Surgical Step Down unit is a 38-bed unit providing care for intermediate level surgical patients. The patient population consists of post-operative and surgical specialty patients, including trauma, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, transplant patients and cardiothoracic surgery.
Position: Certified Nursing Assistant II

Schedule: 40 hours/week - NIGHTS * schedule includes every other weekend
POSITION SUMMARY:
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are responsible for providing direct clinical and support services to patients and their families. While under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) - CNAs function as effective members of the healthcare team, through:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are responsible for providing direct clinical and support services to patients and their families. While under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) - CNAs function as effective members of the healthcare team, through:
- Clinical Practice - Performing a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients and their families.
- Support Services - Working cooperatively with all health care team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient, family, and staff needs.
- Work Rules, Standards, & Competency Compliance - Acting in a manner that supports a positive and collaborative work environment and that is congruent with established standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Care of Unit Environment, Equipment, Materials and Supplies - Performing a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors and staff.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- This position requires a high school diploma or GED certificate AND
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (which includes CPR certification). If BLS certification has expired, it must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
AND at minimum, one of the following -
- One year of previous experience as a nursing assistant in an acute hospital setting, or
- Current enrollment in a nursing program and completion of two cycles of clinical rotation or
- Successful completion of an approved certified nursing assistant training or
- Successful completion of approved certified Medical Assistant Training program
