- Schedule: Nights/Full-time (36 hours/weekly)
Job Summary:
Shriners Children's Portland is seeking an CNA/Patient Care Assistant II to join our team! This position provides high quality, comprehensive and family-centered care to our patients and assistance to professional staff in completion of patient-related tasks which include, but are not limited to assisting patients with ADL’s, post-op ambulation and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Responsibilities:
- The Patient Care Assistant (CNA) assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- The CNA provides direct patient care and performs routine tasks as assigned.
- Must consistently demonstrate caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families.
- Assists with the planning and provision of structured, age appropriate activities for patients under the guidance or direction of a Child Life Therapist.
- Monitors children’s activities and maintains a safe physical and psychosocial environment for children.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and assessment skills necessary to communicate, educate, and provide a therapeutic and safe environment for the specific developmental age groups served between birth and 21 years of age.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to assure completion of patient care activities.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in pediatrics/orthopedics.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Two years of hospital experience.
