Certified Nurse Aide - Part-time - U.S. Central and Southern Province, Society of Jesus

Responsible to protect, sustain, and nurture our Jesuit residents by providing assistance with activities of daily living, and meeting other needs as required.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Recognize and respond to the needs of Jesuit Residents.
2. Promote autonomy of Jesuit Residents in decision-making.
3. Report changes in the Jesuit Residents condition to Nurse.
4. Observe, report & provide skin care and the presence of pressure areas to prevent decubitus.
5. Make occupied and unoccupied beds and change bed linens.
6. Assist moving, positioning and transporting Jesuit Residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
7. Assist Jesuit Residents with personal care functions, including:

• Bathing, Dressing, and Grooming
• Dental & Mouth Care
• Hair & Nail Care
• Bowel/Bladder Care
• Other Personal & Hygiene Care

1. Assure that call lights are answered promptly.
2. Communicate with co-workers at all levels to adequately meet the needs of Jesuit Residents. Assist to and from activities and special events as needed.
3. Reports to nurse at end of each shift to discuss Jesuit Residents' needs and progress in identifying and correcting problems.
4. Report accidents and incidents when they occur.
5. Obtain and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, etc. as directed
6. Report any resident abuse or suspected abuse to the nurse immediately.
7. Assist with the application of slings, elastic bandages, binders, etc. as needed
8. Follow established safety precautions and observe, monitor, intervene or report to the nurse any unsafe conditions.
9. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of Jesuit Residents.
10. Prepare, serve and clean up after meals and snacks.
11. Launder clothing, linen and other articles as needed.
12. Perform routine housekeeping duties to include cleaning all resident living environments.
13. Updates job knowledge by identifying and participating in educational opportunities.
14. Enhances the Fusz Pavilion community by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
15. Performs related special projects and duties as requested from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program.

Physical requirements of this job include routine bending, lifting in excess of 50 pounds, positioning of residents on the nursing unit and pushing equipment. Other criteria include the ability to make quick effective physical responses to nursing home emergencies including (but not limited to) falls and emergency evacuation; the ability to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position; the ability to function independently; the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies; the ability to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility. Exposure to blood and body fluids is likely.

Work schedule is 2:15pm-10:45pm off every other weekend OR 10:30pm-7:30am, off every other weekend
