Certified Medication Aide, Full-Time
- Day Shift, 6:30am-3pm
- Evening Shift, 2:30pm-11pm
SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of your job position is to assist in the administering of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing. The administration of medications shall be in accordance with established nursing standards, the policies, procedures, and practices of this facility, and the requirements of this state.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Follow the policies and procedures of the facility governing the administering of medications to residents.
- Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
- Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, charts, reports, etc., and submit these as may be required.
- Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this facility and that may be ordered for resident use by the attending physician.
- Ensure that all medications administered are properly labeled.
- Notify Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing of resident changes in condition.
- Knowledge of, and can demonstrate proper safe transferring and lifting techniques using gait belt and/or mechanical lifts.
- Capable of taking vital signs and weights.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager, Supervisor or Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education/Experience: Must have current medication administration certification.
- Minium of 1 year of experience working as a Certified Medication Aide.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects/people weighing more than 50lbs.
- Must have current CPR and First Aid.
