We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant with dermatology experience to join our growing practice.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, bilingual, Spanish-speaking Medical Assistant to join our Dermatology team. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. You will assist the Dermatologist with exams, prepare exam rooms, maintain medical records, and perform Dermatology-specific tasks while helping bridge communication with our Spanish-speaking patients. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare Exam Rooms: Ensure exam rooms are properly stocked and maintained with necessary medical supplies and ready for patient exams.
Assist During Dermatology Exams: Support dermatologists during skin examinations by handing over instruments and supplies and assisting with patient positioning.
Prepare Patients for Procedures: Greet patients, explain dermatological procedures, answer patient questions, and ensure patients are comfortable and informed.
Schedule Dermatology Appointments: Manage patient scheduling for dermatology visits, including routine skin exams, follow-up appointments, and specialized procedures.
Maintain Accurate Patient Records: Document patient medical histories, treatment plans, test results, and other important details in our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Patient Education: Instruct patients on dermatology aftercare, post-procedure instructions, and general skin health tips to promote wellness.
Assist with Skin Cancer Screenings: Perform skin assessments and assist dermatologists during skin cancer screenings to detect potential signs of skin cancer.
Document Dermatological Conditions: Record detailed information about skin conditions, lesions, and abnormalities to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning.
Assist with Dermatological Procedures: Prepare for and assist dermatologists during minor dermatology procedures such as mole removals, biopsies, and cryotherapy.
Prepare Specimens for Lab: Collect and prepare skin specimens for transport to pathology labs, ensuring proper handling and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification is preferred.
- Previous dermatology experience or experience in a medical setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of dermatology terminology, skin conditions, and dermatology procedures.
- Ability to maintain organized, accurate, and confidential patient records.
- Excellent communication skills to explain dermatology procedures and care instructions clearly to patients.
- Basic Computer Skills: Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems is a plus.
- BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
