Position Overview
The Medical Assistant will manage customer flow throughout the clinic and provide support to providers in the care and treatment of patients. Patients come from diverse backgrounds and age groups, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The role emphasizes collaborative, supportive, and delegated tasks as defined by the Blaze Health Medical Assistant Scope of Practice, following Minnesota Board of Nursing and Medical Practice guidelines.
The Medical Assistant will report to and collaborate with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and providers, contributing to the clinic's operational and patient care goals.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform rooming procedures and ensure smooth patient flow.
- Administer immunizations, injections, and other medications as directed by providers.
- Conduct laboratory specimen collection and testing as needed.
- Provide additional clinical support, which may include:
- Telephone support and communication facilitation between patients and providers.
- Assisting with prescription refills.
- Performing x-ray duties (if certified).
- Conducting phlebotomy and performing lab tests.
Clinic Support
- Assist with front desk and check-in responsibilities.
- Manage inventory and supply stocking.
- Provide support with prior authorizations.
Collaboration & Communication
- Act as a liaison between patients and the healthcare team to address concerns, progress, or questions.
- Participate in daily clinic operations to ensure quality care and efficiency.
Qualifications
Required:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
- At least 2+ years of experience in all of the following:
- Clinic Setting.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) role.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification in Minnesota (MN).
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification.
