- 2+ years of experience in ALL of the following:
- CMA
- Clinic Setting
- Valid licenses/certifications in ALL of the following:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in Minnesota (MN)
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
- License verification through AAMA or AMT
Overview
The Medical Assistant at Our Award-Winning Client will manage the customer flow throughout the clinic and assist providers in the management and treatment of their customers. Customers come from a variety of backgrounds and various age groups requiring individualized care, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, or geriatrics. The focus of the Medical Assistant is on collaborative, supportive, and delegated tasks as described in the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
Delegable tasks and competencies are specific to the role of the Supervising Nurse and Supervising Provider, as described by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. The Medical Assistant receives direction and collaborates with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers to meet the defined goals of the customer, shift, department, and organization. Communication with the healthcare team regarding progress, concerns, questions, or problems is an essential element of this role.
Location: Brooklyn Center, MN
Schedule: M-F, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Clinical Care:
The Medical Assistant will perform clinical and clerical tasks to assist with managing customer flow throughout the clinic. Tasks include:
- Standard rooming processes
- Giving immunizations, injections, and other medications as directed by the provider
- Performing laboratory specimen collection as needed
Dependent on specialty and clinic location, responsibilities may also include:
- Providing telephone support
- Facilitating communication between customers and providers
- Assisting with prescription refills
- Performing x-ray duties (if certified)
- Phlebotomy duties
- Conducting clinic laboratory tests
Clinic Support:
- Front desk/check-in support
- Ordering and stocking supplies
- Assistance with prior authorizations
The team member is accountable for demonstrating proficiency in the skills outlined in the Medical Assistant scope of practice. Additional skill competencies are defined by the organization and dependent on the clinic. Continuous improvement and maintenance of these skills are expected.
