Medical Assistant
Position Overview
As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth customer flow within the clinic and assisting providers in delivering exceptional care to patients. Serving individuals across all age groups—infants to geriatrics—you will perform a combination of clinical and clerical tasks. These tasks align with the Blaze Health Medical Assistant Scope of Practice and adhere to the standards set by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
The Medical Assistant will collaborate with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and healthcare providers, contributing to customer care, operational efficiency, and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform standard rooming processes and support efficient patient flow.
- Administer immunizations, injections, and medications as directed by providers.
- Conduct laboratory specimen collection and testing as needed.
- Provide additional clinical services, such as:
- Telephone support and facilitating communication between patients and providers.
- Assisting with prescription refills.
- Performing x-ray duties (if certified).
- Conducting phlebotomy and other lab testing.
Clinic Support
- Support front desk operations, including patient check-in.
- Manage supplies, ensuring availability and proper stocking.
- Assist with prior authorizations for patient care needs.
Team Collaboration
- Effectively communicate with the healthcare team regarding patient progress, concerns, and operational challenges.
- Maintain proficiency in required clinical skills and demonstrate ongoing improvement.
Qualifications
Required:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
- At least 2+ years of experience in both:
- Working in a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) role.
- Operating in a clinic setting.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification in Minnesota (MN).
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification.
- License verification through AAMA or AMT
