Certified Medical Assistant | MSK Long Island Locations
Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Join our team as a Medical Assistant and be a key member of the patient care team in the outpatient oncology setting! Work closely with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver an exceptional patient experience.
Role overview:
You will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical practice. This position involves a dynamic blend of clinical and administrative responsibilities, including assisting patients, performing vital sign measurements, preparing for and assisting in medical procedures, and managing patient flow.
Key Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program and relevant specialized certifications.
- National Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or registration by a recognized credentialing body such as:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through National Healthcare Association
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through the National Center for Competency Testing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and email systems.
- Previous experience in a medical assistant role within an outpatient setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and multi-specialty experience in a high-volume setting is advantageous.
Core Skills:
- Clinical Skills: Proficient in taking vital signs, performing electrocardiograms (EKGs), assisting with physical exams and procedures, and managing patient specimens. Ability to respond to medical emergencies and handle point-of-care tests according to established protocols.
- Patient Care: Ability to prepare and assist patients for visits and procedures, manage patient flow, and maintain effective communication with patients and healthcare providers.
- Administrative Efficiency: Competent in tracking patient flow, documenting patient interactions, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.
- Safety and Infection Control: Adhere to infection control and safety procedures, maintain cleanliness in patient care environments, and handle personal protective equipment and hygiene products effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills, including proficiency with EMR systems (Epic preferred), and the ability to handle electronic documentation and communication tools.
Additional Information:
- Locations: MSK Commack, MSK Nassau
- Schedule - 10-hour shifts flex between 6am - 10pm; Monday through Friday, potential weekend rotation
- Reporting to - Nurse leader
Pay Range $23.03-$34.67
