Certified Medical Assistant - Clinic

Location: Lake Mills, WI

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant to join our partner medical facility in Lake Mills, WI. In this full-time, day-shift position, you will play a vital role in providing patient care and supporting clinic operations.

Responsibilities:

• Patient Care:
  • Room patients and review health histories, addressing preventive care needs and demonstrating knowledge of age-specific growth and development.
  • Accurately collect and record patient data, adhering to Meaningful Use and The Joint Commission requirements.
  • Assist providers with medical procedures and exams, ensuring patient safety and understanding of age-specific care needs.
  • Administer medications as directed, demonstrating an understanding of dosage, interactions, and potential side effects.
  • Recognize and report any adverse reactions to medications.
• Communication and Coordination:
  • Communicate and/or complete provider orders to outside sources (pharmacies, clinics, hospitals, etc.).
  • Assist in completing medical forms (RTW, school, DOT, workers' compensation, consent, FMLA).
  • Screen phone calls, gather pertinent information, and communicate with the provider to determine appropriate care.
• Laboratory and Administrative Tasks:
  • Perform CLIA-waived laboratory testing, and venipuncture, and prepare specimens for transport.
  • Ensure proper completion of ABN forms when necessary.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling, referrals, and diagnostic testing.
  • Work with the pre-authorization department or insurance companies to obtain necessary approvals and authorizations.
  • Assist with patient registration and departure processes.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean and safe condition.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Certifications:
  • CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) license OR
  • CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification
  • BLS Certification
• Skills:
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Strong cognitive and critical thinking skills to assess situations and respond appropriately.
  • Adaptability to change and ability to cope with stress and criticism.

Schedule:

• Full-time
• Day shift
• 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
