Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant/Medical Secretary will assist with the day-to-day operations of a high volume practice in the Department of Medicine.
Job Responsibilities:
- Vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs
- Assist with patient treatments
- Prepare lab specimens for courier pick up
- Scan outside patient medical records/documentation into EPIC or equivalent electronic medical record application
- Clean and prepare exam rooms between patients
- Stock exam room supplies
- Review medication samples for expiration dates and discard
- Inventory storeroom medical supplies
- AED maintenance log
- Monitor medication refrigerators and record temperature control logs
- Answer phones, screen telephone calls, greet patients/visitors, handles and redirects inquiries as appropriate
- Perform general secretarial duties (eg: file, photocopy, and sort/distribute mail)
- Schedule and register patients at the time of appointment
- Enter demographic information in EPIC
- Verify insurance information before patient arrival and copy insurance cards upon arrival
- Confirm arrival in EPIC, indicate no-shows and cancellations when applicable
- Schedule procedures, diagnostic tests, follow-up appointments and hospital admissions, as needed
- Ensure prior authorizations are obtained prior to date of service (if applicable)
- Collect co-pays and provide receipt to patient
- Print/Submit and reconcile all Cash Drawers in EPIC
- Reconcile arrived visits against documentation and charges
- Review provider encounter submissions for completeness and accuracy before submission to EPIC
- Order supplies as necessary for practice
- Provide coverage under both job functions (CMA/MS) in other division practices, as needed
- Perform other related duties as required.
Job Responsibilities:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program required
- CMA certification required
- A minimum of 6 months experience as a medical assistant and/or front desk setting required
- Ability to work well independently and with a team
- Demonstrates enthusiastic work ethic and superior customer service
- Excellent interpersonal, written communication and organizational skills
- Experience with EPIC preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
Hourly Rate Ranges: $21.00 - $33.17
Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
