Certified Medical Assistant
Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure functionality of practice operations to provide excellent patient care. Ensures medical facilities run smoothly, and works in a clerical, administrative, or clinical capacity, and may even be asked to perform more specialized tasks.
Principal Accountabilities:
Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
- Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
- Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
- Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
- Taking vital signs: Typically performed before a patient sees a doctor to establish a baseline for future exams
- Assisting with examinations: Working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks
- Collecting and preparing laboratory samples: Instructing patients on how to collect samples or drawing blood
- Excellent Communication, Work Ethic, Active Listening, Adaptability to working in fast pace environment, and hold upmost professionalism at all times. Strong written and communication skills
- Greeting patients: Welcoming patients to the facility and Scheduling appointments: Organizing appointments for patients
- Maintaining medical records: Recording patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system
- Cleaning patient rooms: Sanitizing and reorganizing patient rooms between visits
- Prepping examination rooms: Ensuring the exam room is ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment and stocking supplies
- Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
- Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
