JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of a physician, assists in the delivery of health care for patients. Performs a wide variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, maintenance of clinical record/documentation, administering medications, giving injections, taking vital signs, scheduling, mentoring and training of staff. Identifies issues and participates in process improvement initiatives. Facilitates or leads huddles and various team meetings. May manage process workflow and/or staff schedules.
WHAT IS EXPECTED (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)Answer telephone for provider: Take and relay messages, Make phone calls as instructed by provider; makes reminder calls as required Complete paperwork as needed including scanning, stamping and filing as requested or required Ensure all charts and forms for the office visit are ready for the provider. Schedule patient appointments and follow-up tests as requested or required.
Arrange instruments and assist providers in exam and/or procedure room with tasks such as lumbar punctures, ultrasounds, biopsies, endoscopic procedures, dressing change, and other procedures
Assist the patient in case management Assist with cardiac monitoring, set up and operate EKG equipment, place or change electrodes Assist with inventory levels to ensure availability of necessary supplies, equipment and instruments; reorder as necessary and store appropriately
Collect all medical data in order to facilitate the physicians ability to draw conclusions about the patients needs Complete finger sticks, phlebotomy or provide appropriate instructions for specimen collection as required
Collect vital signs, including pulse oximetry BP, pulse, respirations, head circumference, weight, height screening and hearing tests as appropriate
Obtain lab results from computer program if necessary
Obtain need for medication refills and record patient data in charts Perform foley catheter insertion, IV establishment (INT only) and dressings requiring sterile technique Prepare patients for examinations and tests Scrub speculums and tools Properly sterilize in an autoclave machine Set up for suture placement or removal

Experience Equivalencies: - 2 years experience as CMA preferred- H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
