King County Department of Human Resources is seeking a seasoned people leader who is customer-focused, collaborative, and results-driven to manage our Central Payroll Operations. Our ideal candidate values diversity and approaches situations with a focus on racial equity and will have a history of proven leadership skills necessary to oversee the day-to-day central payroll production operation for King County.
This position is responsible for managing a large team within the Benefits, Payroll and Retirement Operations Section (BPROS). This team is responsible for producing pay for 19,000 employees with an annual payroll totaling $2 billion dollars; payroll taxes with an annual tax liability of about $300 million dollars in a multi-state environment plus W-2 forms; and the related payroll accounting functions. This position also provides guidance and expertise to county leadership and departments on payroll related questions, federal and state laws, and other payroll matters, and serves as the PeopleSoft Payroll Module business owner.
