Overview
Pre-clinical synthetic biology/cellular engineering discovery lab developing next generation cellular immunotherapies focused on CAR T cell therapy for cancer is looking for an exceptionally motivated individual with substantial prior lab experience. The lab takes projects from conception to vector design/genetic engineering, through reduction to practice, in vitro and in vivo studies, and ultimately translation to the clinic. The position involves mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology (plasmid construction, CRISPR gene editing), viral transduction to generate gene modified immune effector cells, and protein science.

This full-time position will also include some general lab duties as outlined below.
Responsibilities
- Molecular and cell biology (cell culture) skills and/or protein/antibody science experience as the applicant’s contribution is expected to contribute significantly toward developing research projects.
- Responsible for the development, modification and improvement of standard operating procedures.
- Assist lab manager in organization of laboratory reagents/plasmids
- Analyze experimental data and interpret results to present summaries of findings.
- Maintains detailed electronic notebook of all work-related activities.
- Monitors laboratory work to ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety information as well as lab specific standard operation procedures.
- Expected to provide intellectual and interactive commitment to position by keeping up with appropriate literature and research publications.
- Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
- Collaborates with Purchasing and may be responsible for negotiating with vendors.
- Uses computers, computer-interfaced equipment, robotics or high-technology applications to perform work duties.
- May be responsible for designing and executing advanced experiments and participate in setting strategy.
- Responsible for the examination of animals and specimens to detect the presence of disease or other problems.
- Intellectual input and co-authorship are encouraged.

- Substantial prior lab experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- Ability to make 2 year commitment (longer is ok)
- Exceptionally motivated/hard working
- Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.
- Outstanding planning, organizational, multi-tasking skills
- Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
- Must have attention to detail and be thorough and organized in completing work tasks.
