Category Manager-Value Added Beef
Purpose and Scope/General Summary: The category manager will be responsible for driving revenue improvement, improved market share, converted product growth for Beef Value Added products. Candidate will be responsible for pricing value added product in a reasonable time. Assist in product roadmap; working with multiple departments to meet deadlines and hit margin expectations. Must understand yields and the relationship to breakeven cost. This position requires strong analytical, communication, leadership and program management skills that can translate into successful sales and margin results. Constant and clear communication to sales and scheduling is crucial to assist in the overall growth of programs and revenue enhancement.
Responsibilities:
- 1. Value Added Pricing
- a. Pricing of all value-added business, ensuring we meet financial and budgetary goals.
- b. Understand yields and meat breakeven
- c. Analyze comp data and understand customer margin expectations to maximize value added margins opportunities.
- d. Develop and maintain pricing files.
- e. Work with core pricing teams to project forward raw material cost
- f. Manage transfer pricing rules and monitor raw material cost of goods
- 2. Commercial Support
- a. Sample Requests, First Order Checklists, and Pre-Shipment Inspections
- b. Assist sales and marketing in development of sales and marketing strategies
- c. Provide the sales and marketing teams expertise and assistance on programs for all sales channels and customers
- d. Contribute to planning, organizing, and coordinating programs to accomplish financial and budgetary goals.
- e. Assist in plant tours
- f. Liaison between sales, scheduling, and operations.
- g. Communicate product updates and progress to sales and executive team.
- 3. Product Mix Management
- a. Utilize yield and production data to identify business opportunities
- b. Analyze customer needs, identify market opportunities, and translate insight into actionable product shifts
- c. Plan for mix shifts, support scheduling and sales team in fluid execution.
- d. Set benchmarks and throughput goals
- 4. Reporting
- a. Develop and maintain appropriate reporting.
- b. Monitor and analyze product performance; identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in the beef industry
- Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Business, Supply Chain or related field preferred
- Ability to navigate relationships with sales, pricing, scheduling, production and business analysis departments; as well as key customers
- Strong data analysis skill with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication, sales planning skills required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Advance Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, QlikView experience preferred
- Experience in JBS Systems (i.e. Quintiq, ECS, Shopfloor, SAP, etc.) preferred
- Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
- Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
- Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
- 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
- Base salary range of $90,000-$110,000
- Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and
