Category Manager, MRO (Maintenance, Repairs, and Operations)
6+ Month Contract (Potential to Convert to Perm)
Job is 100% remote in CST zones.
If local to Rosemont, IL will be expected to be on site 2-3 days per week.
Travel is up to 35% to various location to include Mexico.
In this pivotal role, you'll be the driving force behind the global MRO category, overseeing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and implementing cost-effective strategies. Become a key player in achieving cost savings and optimizing our supply chain processes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end execution of the MRO strategic sourcing program and policies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including engineering and functional leaders, to develop and execute category strategies.
- Conduct negotiations with suppliers, managing complex relationships aligned with portfolio strategies.
- Analyze global markets, providing insights to leadership about market and supply trends.
- Drive cost savings initiatives through in-depth spend analysis and continuous improvements.
- Implement best-in-class decision-making, including Preferred Supplier programs and Global LTAs.
- Collaborate with finance to manage and improve working capital, ensuring optimal financial performance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues with stakeholders and vendors, building trust within the business.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, or industrial management; MBA desirable.
- Proven track record of 7-10 years in MRO categories, preferably within a manufacturing company.
- Expertise in strategic sourcing processes and team leadership; APICS certification preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to drive productivity and compliance throughout a complex organization.
- Ability to think strategically, conceptually, and analytically to assess problems and make timely recommendations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of Oracle a plus.
